Zespa Introduces Scandi Reality Hit Teenage Boss to China


Zespa Media has picked up the Norwegian format Teenage Boss from distributor DRG for local adaptation in China. The format gives teenagers responsibility for their whole family’s finances. Under the guidance of an expert financial mentor, teenagers take charge of the family’s budget over the course of a month. The ultimate goal is to help the teen (and their family) spend wisely and boost their financial health.

The original series achieved great success in Norway, reaching over 30% market share with its most popular episode. Its Chinese version is currently under development with the national broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV), with an initial production of 10 episodes, scheduled to be aired later in the year.

Miss Jean Dong, Chairman of Zespa Media Group, stated: “We see great potential for this format in China, as ordinary people in Chinese society share all the same issues as the ones this format addresses. A lot of teenagers spend excessively but want to know how to make smarter use of their money. We believe this format will attract a younger audience to the channel, watching it together with their whole family.”
